Code of Conduct

Jede Person ist beim Prototype Fund willkommen. Wir wollen besonders Menschen of Color, Frauen, queeren Personen, Menschen mit Behinderungen und Personen aus nicht-akademischen Haushalten den Raum geben, der ihnen zusteht. Wir tolerieren kein sexistisches, trans*feindliches, queerphobes, rassistisches, ableistisches, klassischtisches und anderes diskriminierendes Verhalten.

Nehmt Rücksicht aufeinander.

Du hast das Recht, fair behandelt zu werden. Niemand hat das Recht, dir zu drohen, dich zu erpressen, zu beleidigen, abwertend zu behandeln, verbal anzugreifen oder dir wehzutun. Was für dich zu weit geht, bestimmst nur du selbst, niemand sonst. Wenn du dir nicht sicher bist, wo die Grenzen einer anderen Person liegen, frag nach.

Du hast das Recht, selbst zu bestimmen, wie nahe dir jemand wann, wie und wo kommt. Niemand darf dich gegen deinen Willen berühren.

Du hast das Recht, NEIN zu sagen und dich zu wehren, wenn jemand deine Grenzen überschreitet, deine Gefühle oder die von jemand anderem verletzt. Du kannst NEIN sagen mit deinem Gesichtsausdruck, Worten oder durch deine Körperhaltung. Auch, wenn du schon einmal JA gesagt hast.

Sei dir darüber bewusst, dass Menschen aus unterschiedlichen Kulturen unterschiedliche Wege haben, ihre Grenzen und Bedürfnisse auszudrücken. NEIN kann auf verschiedene Arten ausgedrückt werden. Tu dein Bestes, die Signale der Anderen zu verstehen.

Egal ob auf Events, während der Förderzeit oder im Rahmen der größeren Prototype-Fund-Community sind wir gemeinsam mitverantwortlich für ein respektvollen Umgang. Bemühe dich um eine erwachsene, wohlwollende und professionelle Kommunikationsart.

Du hast das Recht, für dich und andere Unterstützung zu holen. Wenn du Hilfe brauchst, wende dich an das Prototype-Fund-Teammitglied deines Vertrauens.

Was passiert, wenn du uns etwas meldest?

Zunächst einmal wollen wir gemeinsam in einem Gespräch mit dir herausfinden, was konkret vorgefallen ist, um zu entscheiden, welche die nächsten Schritte sind. Wir behandeln alle Meldungen vertraulich.

Danach besprechen wir im Team den nächsten Schritt, über den wir dich frühzeitig informieren: Das kann von einem klärenden Gespräch bis hin zum Ausschluss der Person reichen. Wichtig ist uns, dass der Prototype Fund ein geschützter Raum ist oder wieder werden kann.

Manchmal sind sich Personen, die gegen den Code of Conduct verstoßen, nicht bewusst, dass ihr Verhalten schädlich ist. Ein offenes Gespräch klärt die Dinge, um weiterzukommen. Wenn eine Person nicht einsichtig ist oder ihr Verhalten fortsetzt, kann das Team alle Maßnahmen ergreifen, die es für angemessen hält, bis hin zum Ausschluss aus allen Prototype-Fund-Bereichen und -Kommunikationskanälen.

Code of Conduct (in English)

Every person is welcome at Prototype Fund. We especially want to give people of color, women, queer people, people with disabilities, and people from non-academic backgrounds the space they deserve. We do not tolerate sexist, trans*phobic, queerphobic, racist, ableist, classist, and other discriminatory behavior.

Be considerate of one another.

You have the right to be treated fairly. No one has the right to threaten you, blackmail you, insult you, treat you in a derogatory manner, verbally attack you, or hurt you. You alone can determine your own limits, no one else. If you are unsure of another person's boundaries, ask. You have the right to decide how close people may be to you, and to define when, how, and where. Nobody is allowed to touch you against your will.

You have the right to say NO and to resist when someone oversteps your boundaries, hurts yours or someone else's feelings. You can say NO with facial expressions, words, or body language. Even if you said YES before.

Be aware that people from different cultures have different ways of expressing their boundaries and needs. NO can be expressed in different ways. Do your best to understand other people‘s signals.

At events, during your funding time, or within the wider Prototype Fund community, we share responsibility for respectful interactions. Make an effort to communicate in a mature, kind, and professional manner.

You have the right to seek support for yourself and others. If you need help, contact a Prototype Fund team member you trust.

What happens when you report something to us?

First of all, we will want to talk with you to find out what happened in order to decide what the next steps are. We treat all reports confidentially.

After that, we will discuss the next step within the team, and we will inform you about it as early as possible: This step can range from a clarifying conversation to the exclusion of the person. It is important to us that the Prototype Fund is a safe space or that it can become one again.

Sometimes the people who violate the Code of Conduct are not aware that their behavior is harmful. An open conversation can clarify things and help to move forward. If the person fails to engage appropriately or persists in their behavior, the team may take any action it deems appropriate, up to and including the expulsion from all Prototype Fund spaces and communication channels.
